Katoomba Men's Shed Successful with Application to Host a Broadband for Seniors Kiosk
We are pleased to let you know that Katoomba Men's Shed has been approved as a host venue for a Broadband for Seniors internet kiosk.

The free kiosk is to feature two computers with free broadband access for use by older members of our local community. We are also providing training,
so beginners are very welcome!
Our new Broadband for Seniors internet kiosk is due to be rolled out in March to be ready for use as soon as we open.

Broadband for Seniors is part of a $15m Australian Government initiative to increase the skills of older Australians using computers and the internet.

A Broadband for Seniors kiosk offers the opportunity for our seniors to discover how the web can play a great part in helping you and your fellow members
to stay in touch with friends and family, along with offering access to the wealth of information available online. This is your chance to find out what all the excitement
is about.

So if you, or someone you know would be interested in learning more about computers and the internet please pay us a visit any Thursday, or
contact us on 4782-7433 (you may need to leave a message).

More information on the Broadband for Seniors initiative can be found at http://www.necseniors.net.au

Computer Tutors are required for the new computer kiosk being hosted by Katoomba Men's Shed
(see accompanying story).

Tutors will need to have a good knowledge of the internet, Gmail and Microsoft Wordpad and be able to provide basic instruction and support for seniors using the kiosk. Tutor support and training materials are all provided.

Initially we be making the kiosk available for about 20 hours a week so we will need at least four or more tutors. So if you think you might be interested in giving us a couple of hours a week please contact Greg on 4758-6552.

BLOKEFEST
Members of the Men's Shed enjoyed this year's Blokefest celebration held at Katoomba Primary School on 5th September.
Quite a few Kites were made by children visiting the stall and as a special service, low-cost, professional hairdressing
was provided by our own James of Sheffield
Well done everyone

 RENNOVATIONS
We are fast approaching the day when we can have our Development Application activated by Council.
The Thursday group has completed the guttering and downpipe, the floors are being painted, Peter has been busy working on the workshop layout
and John's been doing the landscaping. We desperately need a small (5ft high) water tank to complete the plumbing

Top marks to everyone who has contributed to the building rennovations

 Mid-Mountains Family Fun Day
On 22 April KMS manned a woodworking stall at the Mid-Mountains Family Fun Day at Camp Fletcher, Hazelbrook.
The sheddies helped enthusiastic young carpenters build bird boxes, trains, cars, trucks and doll's furniture. Congratulations to all of those
who made the activity such a success.  John, Bob, Tim, David, Desley, Trevor & Greg.
See the Gallery for photos.
